What personal information we collect and why

Comments

When site visitors post comments on the site we collect the details found within the comment, and the person’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam recognition.

An anonymised string formulated from your e-mail address (referred to as a hash) may be given to partner services to check if you use them. Upon approval of your post, your profile image is available to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

Whenever you submit photos to the site, we recommend to avoid submitting pictures with embedded location data (EXIF, GPS) included. Site guests can save and extract any location information from photos on the site.

Who we share your details with

How long we retain your information for

If you submit a comment, the content and its metadata are kept indefinitely. This is so we are able to recognise and authorise any further comments instantly rather than keeping them in a moderation queue.

If you have an account on this site, or have made comments, you can request to be provided with an exported file of the personal records we hold about you, including any data you have supplied to us. You can also ask that we remove any personal information we keep about you. This does not include any information we are required to maintain for administrative, legal, or security applications.
